Saturday Night

I could have been anywhere in Europe tonight. Dinner in a street cafe under a canopy of fairy lights on a balmy night. It could be Paris or Brussels or... anywhere except its much cheaper here. Plenty of people around; couples, families, young people in groups, probably not tourists though. And me, sitting reading the next book 'One Day' by David Nicholls. It will no doubt be shite, like his last book 'Starter for Ten'. On the other hand, it starts in 1988 after a graduation and I started to reminisce about Leeds in 86 and my hazy memory of that time.

Now there's sheet lighting and thunder getting louder and louder. I just managed to return before the rain, shame really, it might have cooled me down.
